Open Concept White Kitchen Remodel

Open Concept White Kitchen Remodel

Design Style

Transitional

When this 25 year old home started feeling a little bit of the "I'm dated status" starting to sink in, the homeowners decided to go all-in on an open concept style of living that incorporated dining, living, kitchen and mudroom space. Enter into this lighter, brighter, welcoming home!

Walls come down and "orange" oak cabinets go away. Tile floors become engineered hardwood flooring. Frameless white cabinets and contrasting island cabinets in midnight stain are topped with gorgeous granite. And the backsplash tile steals the show, neutral "arrows" of warm tans and whites. The kitchen storage seems to go on for miles with pantry cabinets in kitchen and also in adjoining mudroom drop zone in this recent home remodel in Springfield, IL.

Open Kitchen to Mudroom Remodel

As with any remodeling project, seeing what a space looked like in it's original floor plan and with original finishes is always helpful in telling the story of the transformation. Eight foot walls with a vaulted ceiling are a tough design to pull off and usually detract from the appeal of a vaulted ceiling in the first place. Limited storage in the kitchen and undefined mudroom at the garage entry were missed opportunities for sure.

With dining room walls taken down, the kitchen shows off with a large island that seats six and welcomes everyone to gather.

Barn style sliding door in midnight stain leads to the master bedroom. Details on the master bedroom and master bath renovations, including adding an additional closet and incorporating washer and dryer, can be seen by clicking here.
